As a beautiful and functional pool deck option, the pool pavers are an excellent addition to your backyard. Apart from the variety of design and color options, the pavers are also cheap. Before undertaking a project, however, you should analyze the associated costs. Here’s a guide to help you figure out how much the pool pavers cost.
We all want life options, and when it comes to pool pads, there’s no shortage of them. Of course, different pool pavilion ideas have different price points. All come with their own advantages and disadvantages, but if the price is your primary concern, consider the cost of the following pool deck pavers:
- Concrete Pool Pavers: Prices range between $5 and $10 per square foot.
- Brick Pool Pavers: Prices range between $5 and $25 per square foot.
- Stone Pool Pavers: Prices range between $5 and $40 per square foot.
With its wide variety of colors and shapes, concrete is one of the most versatile flooring pool options. At $5 to $10 per square foot, it’s a good choice for homeowners on a budget to cover large areas. Durable and chlorine-resistant, concrete provides a slip-resistant surface for both shoes and bare legs. Concrete provides a smooth look for pool edges, but since the material is more porous than any other type of pavement, it must be sealed to avoid water damage over time.
Natural earth shades of brick can blend in with a variety of designs and are unaffected by both heat and chlorine, making them durable and safe. Brick pavers offer good value for their price, which can be as small as $0.50 per brick or $5 to $15 per square foot. They’re easy to install and repair for as long as the installation surface does. In order to ensure longevity and avoid the potential growth of moss, the bricks should be sealed after laying.
Finally, stone pavements offer a wide range of styles, types, colors, sizes and shapes. Unlike concrete and brick, which are made by man, stone is naturally created over centuries, and sporting unique accents and variations result in one-of-a-kind designs. Stones resist cracking and fading as their uneven surfaces create a slip-free area around the pool. Although these pavers have inherent strength, it is important to seal them against water and heat damage in order to preserve the color. Stone is the most expensive choice between $5 and $40 per square foot.
Checklist of price and installation costs
- Get at least 3-5 estimates before hiring a Pool Pavers contractor — estimates are usually free unless it’s a service call for repairs.
- Expect Pool Pavers to fluctuate between different companies – each company has different operating and overhead costs.
- Try to get prices at the end of the fall, or early winter – you should expect aggressive pricing discounts by waiting for the contractor down the season.
- Try to budget and add 7-15 percent more to what our calculator gives out – i.e. difficult configurations, patterns, and the extra complexity of your home will add to the Pool Pavers.
- Visit every supply house that sells your own Pool Pavers brand and try to negotiate a better price with each supplier – on average, I save 20%.
- Remember, there are multiple styled homes in the U.S.—from contemporary, colonial, cape-cod style, ranch, bungalow, Victorian, etc. So keep that in mind and try to budget a little more before starting the Pool Pavers project.
Pool Pavers Cost Factors
- Type of Paver: As you’ve seen above, pool paving costs range from as little as $5 per square foot to as high as $40 per square foot. With a pool deck of 100 square foot, that’s a big difference.
- Paver Quality: Like almost any material on the market, there are good quality and better quality pool pads. Better-quality pool pavers will last longer, but they will cost more.
- Project Size: All material and labor costs are broken down by square footage. As a result, larger pool decks require larger pool paver budgets.
- Pool Deck Design: paving contractors such as square or rectangular pool decks. Other complex designs require more work. As such, the total cost of your pool pavers is going to rise.
- Labor: Some pool paving pros have been in business for years and have a lot of positive reviews from your neighbors and beyond. As you might expect, these contractors will not only be more busy, but their labor costs are likely to exceed those of inexperienced pool paving pros.
- Land Excavation: If you are installing a new inland swimming pool, you need to consider the cost of land excavation. The excavation price starts at $500.
- Time of year: the off-season for paving pros is in late autumn and winter. Try to get quotes during this time frame to make sure you get the lowest possible pool pavers installation bid.
- Location: Installation of pavers is cheaper in good weather as it reduces installation time.
