This is a great, quiet and easy San Ramon hike. Lots of cows grazing, peaceful paths away from cars and views all around. Tassajara Ridge Trail Loop is a 9.2 mile light loop trail located near San Ramon, California that provides scenic views and is ideal for all ability levels. The trail provides a range of activities and is open throughout the year.
If you're looking for a peaceful hike-place to be; however, as others have said, a lot of cows graze nearby and in the area-sometimes they stand on their way to say hi-many of us are just too busy to go to Moo Moo and have to pick alternative paths.
Hike has some sections that are decent grade-for example , if you take the first left after you start-you'll be treated to an earthen walk where you can go up very high (no rock climbing or anything but a really steep grade). Only being away from cars and noise is a great feeling.
Open, private parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. The dog park is situated nearby. The main attraction is the trail that leads to the mountains. Beautiful place to sit back and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of San Ramon.Completely beautiful sunset / sunrise view. It's got a route, not a trail to walk up and explore.
Nice place to enjoy the views, have a peaceful stroll, walk with your dog (please remember to be careful and clean up after your pooch), ride a bike or go for a long hike. The dirt path can be rocky at times, so please be careful and look out for cow dung. Parking is fine with toilets in the vicinity of the dog park.
The Tassajara Ridge Staging Area is part of my 15-20 mile mountain bike loop regime. It's an awesome open space-mile of cow pasture open space with a continuous five mile fire road / trail up and down the hills. There's a lot of pigs, coyotes, deer, birds of prey, and even a badger watching. There's a very fun dog park in the Tassajara Ridge parking area-my dogs love to run around and meet a lot of bigger dogs. What a wonderful spot to have in my neighborhood.
