Las Lomas High School (LLHS) is a public high school in Walnut Creek, California , USA. It was founded in 1951 by the Acalanes Union High School District and opened its doors to its first graduate class in the fall of 1952. Las Lomas was the second of five schools built in the Acalanes Union High School District. It is a traditional high school serving grades 9-12 and has a history of athletic and educational excellence.
The school has a strong college preparatory program as well as a number of extracurricular programs. The school colors are maroon and gold, and the school mascot is the Knight. In 2011-12, Las Lomas had 1,482 students. The school has a 96.4% graduation rate, and about 97% of its graduates attend college. U.S. News & World Report ranked Las Lomas #372 in the nation in 2013. It was voted a National Blue Ribbon School in 2008.
New tennis courts have been completed during the 2011-2012 school year. The George DeKlotz Stadium, Las Lomas' new football stadium and track, was completed in 2005. At the same time, the baseball field was reopened after a year of remodeling. A year earlier, Las Lomas had completed the construction of a new softball field. Other facilities include a swimming pool, a gym, a small gym, five tennis courts, a locker room and a weight room.
The Las Lomas Wellness Center works in collaboration with the Counseling Department and the Health Office to expand existing student support services. They offer direct services as well as prevention and education to students, including health and wellness classroom presentations, workshops and school-wide health events. In addition, they work with community-based organizations to bring them to their campus to support the specific wellness needs of our students. The Wellness Center is located between the Ministry of Counseling and the attendance offices.
The Las Lomas Performing Arts Foundation is supporting our outstanding music, choral and theater programs through the voluntary efforts of our Board and donations from parents , friends and local corporations. Their teachers and board members work together to assist our departments in advertising events, performances, receptions, trip planning and fundraising. Donations are used to enhance student learning by hiring coaches, updating equipment, providing tools, student scholarships, and rewarding and awarding students with outstanding musical and theatrical achievements.
The Las Lomas Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a membership organization that supports all of their 1,600 Knights. LL PTSA was founded to create a forum for parents and students to express their perspectives and to raise and prioritize funding efforts that will enrich our high school students.
